Food Safety/Sanitation Leader

Summary:

Responsible for leading, developing, managing, and executing all aspects of the Sanitation/Food Safety Department ensuring food safety and sanitation of all equipment and products manufactured.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Model a culture that represents the company well
  • Meet or exceed all Key Performance Indicators:
    • Labor
    • Expenses
    • AIB, ODA & FSMA standards
    • Food Safety Team Member development, training, and performance
  • Update and maintain GMP's so as to keep company in compliance with regulations
  • Develop and maintain HACCP program to ensure company complies with regulations
  • Manage "Day Old Program" (maintain list of approved charities) and ensure compliance to procedures
  • Member of Creation Leadership Team
  • Prepare daily work plans based on production needs
  • Ensure work efficiencies are achieved
  • Supervise work of all Food Safety employees
  • Ensure the cleanliness/sanitation all Hyde Park location areas including, but not limited to: outside grounds, basement, loading dock,rood, marquee shop, storage areas, store supply area, etc.
  • Establish, document, and carry out cleaning procedures
  • Recommend chemical cleaning products to ensure proper sanitizing and cleaning of production equipment
  • Manage the stocking of ingredients and packaging materials
  • Train new employees in job responsibilities and GMP's
  • Manage pest control contractors and ensure the pest control activities are carried out and documented consistently
  • Implement and improve Food Safety Department processes and controls
  • Plan and carry out Plant Zone Inspections weekly to ensure cleanliness of the manufacturing facility
  • Document quality and cleaning processes and establish metrics to ensure standards are met on a daily basis
  • Ensure work standards are established and metrics developed to monitor activities on a daily basis to ensure work is completed in a cost efficient manner
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Maintain and improve department morale
  • Directly supervise 10-15 employees
  • Perform Team Member evaluations on a consistent basis
  • Discipline employees as necessary
  • Interview, hire, and schedule team members based on production needs
  • Understand and adhere to Collective Bargaining Agrreemnets
  • Fulfill all necessary administrative duties such as payroll and creation of instructions, presentations, and training documents
  • Other duties as assigned by Company Leadership
  • Comply with Company Handbook and all policies & procedures

 

Required Skills:

  • Minimum two years previous supervisory experience (union environment preferable)
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement government food safety guidelines and expectations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
  • Well organized, self-motivated, reliable, and task oriented
  • Knowledge and understanding of HACCP and GMP's
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit
  • Ability to read and understand work-related materials
  • Ability to repetitively conduct physical activities such as kneading and rolling dough
  • Ability to perform duties when exposed to very hot or cold temperatures
  • Strong desire to solve problems
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for up to 8 hour shifts
  • Ability to push and pull pan dollies and cabinets, up to 200 lbs., on and off trucks
  • Previous experience in bakery production preferred but not required
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED
